The front cover is reinforced by 16 leaves from an unrelated book, possibly Del Rio's Disquisitionum Magicarum, first published in 1599; they are exposed and partly legible along the top edge of the binding. first latin edition. Benzoni was a very early Italian traveler in Spanish America; this work was first published in 1565. This edition is perhaps most notable for an appendix which recounts the Spanish execution of Huguenot settlers in Florida in 1565. This translation of Nicolas le Challeux's "Discours de l'Histoire de la Floride" appears here under the title "De Gallorum Expeditione in Floridam."
